Steampunk Rayguns

Reserve your copy of Dr. Grordbort’s Contrapulatronic Dingus Directory. Weta Publishing with Dark Horse Comics will be releasing the 2008 Catalog of ingenious contraptions featuring limited edition rayguns: Dr. Grorbort’s Infallible Aether Oscillators. Only 500 of each model raygun will be distributed internationally, each with its own velvet lined metal case and documentation (shown above is the Goliathon 83 Infinity Beam Projector).

Weta Workshop is a custom prop-house based in Wellington, New Zealand. From science fiction to medieval period pieces, Weta is known for custom weaponry for cinema including Walt Disney’s The Chronicles of Narnia trilogy, The Last Samurai and all three Lord of the Rings releases.

The Victorian Industrial era inspired rayguns featured in the catalog can be ordered as limited edition collector pieces, but at $600+ each, these are no child’s toy. The book itself, illustrated by Greg Broadmore, mixes an Art Nouveau graphic style with pulp magazine illustrations. The 32 page hardcover edition can be pre-ordered for delivery in late January, 2008. Until then you can download this teaser PDF.
